This is because they have to exchange their rain delay tickets from yesterday for a game next year. Some of these fans paid as much as $800 per ticket from a broker and the tickets next year will be face value, about $25. These fans are blaming the Cubs for not letting them see the game today. However the Cubs are good Chicagoans and are of course blaming the mayor. By city ordnance there can only be 18 regular season night games, if they made up the game tonight they would be breaking the law, and they way the Mayor has been who knows if Wrigley would still exist after that.|W|P|106469651539013983|W|P|Right a century of suffering didn't do it but missing one game will.|W|P|jacob.tomaw@gmail.com9/25/2003 06:03:00 PM|W|P|Jacob|W|P|Hundreds ot rabbits are being evicted from Grant Park! The prices were based on race and gender. As you can imagine even though black people paid the least there was still anger about the sale. One black student, Matt Houston, said, "My reaction was disgust because of the ignorance of some SMU students. They were arguing that affirmative action was solely based on race. It's not based on race. It's based on bringing a diverse community to a certain organization." Is he disgusted with his own ignorance? Affermitive action tries to bring "a diverse community" through rules based solely on race and gender. The Let It Be we know today is the work of Phil Spector, who was given the task by John Lennon. Let It Be was intended to be a return to simple Rock and Roll. That was before the band dissolved on the last day of recording in 1969 and Spector worked his wall of sound techniques. Milwaukee is the hometown of the Commissioner of Baseball. Mr. Selig came into the broadcast booth with Chip Caray and Steve Stone. They were discussing that it was 10 years ago that the wild card system for the MLB pennant races was voted in by the owners. The Commissioner stated a fact that I think might be in play for next years presidential election. The Wild Card was approved 27-1 in 1993. The lone dissent came from the Texas Rangers. The president of the Rangers has now gone on to a more important job. We all know him as President Bush. If the election where held today could the baseball fans of the Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox, Twins, Royals, As, Mariners, Braves, Cubs, Astros, Cardinals, and Giants hold the President responsible for trying to destroy their hopes of a World Series? Does voting against the Wild Card system sound like something you would do if you wanted to be seen as companionate? Perhaps the President saw giving these team who had failed to win their divisions a second chance similar to going back to the UN for yet another resolution on Iraq, or giving any amount of trust to Kim Jung Il. Just something to ponder. |W|P|106303843774016169|W|P|Compassionate Conservative?|W|P|jacob.tomaw@gmail.com9/05/2003 11:28:00 AM|W|P|Jacob|W|P|Joscelynn reports that she has arrived no worse for wear in Freiburg.|W|P|106277931491215925|W|P|All is well in Deutschland|W|P|jacob.tomaw@gmail.com9/04/2003 01:16:00 PM|W|P|Jacob|W|P|http://www.misternicehands.com/|W|P|106269940094662815|W|P|Via Jonah Golberg in The Corner|W|P|jacob.tomaw@gmail.com9/04/2003 12:02:00 PM|W|P|Jacob|W|P|This week I received me welcome packet from the USPS after my move. I was prepared to go downtown and pay the ticket, but I never did. After doing a little more checking in my checking account, I saw that the check had cleared. Today, I called the Department of Revenue and used their automated system to check the status of my ticket. It is paid in full.
